STAR GAZE With NASA Astronomer Francisco Silva @LV SPACEPORT

Astronomer Francisco Silva, 

I am from planet Earth; I was born in 1984 in Madrid and I am a
STEAM educator based in Las Vegas. I have 8 years of experience with a focus on young youth and have
developed a strong expertise in Popular science.

I'm known for interacting with the general public, they love science, but do not know jet.
I have studied computer science, computer engineering and astronomy Why Astronomy? This is
thanks to my mother who introduced me to wondering about the universe when I was 6 years old.
Have since worked with different technology companies and with Girls Scouts, Scouts, Las
Vegas-Clark County Library District, Clark County School District, Civil Air Patrol CSN, UNLV and others.
I have done several citizen science projects, for NASA, JPL, ESA, The Planetary Society and
RECON. For hunting, identification and tracking of asteroids. As well as doing some Light Sail, Solar and
Lunar projects.

Furthermore, In 2013, I became a member and volunteer of an astronomy organization in Las
Vegas (The Las Vegas Astronomical Society). Today I have the privilege of being the Vice President of the
Education Outreach Program.

In 2018 I cooperated with Denise Nikita, Doctoral Candidate in the Astra (air and space thermal
rocket engine with turbojet project.)

In 2022 I have been chosen to participate in The Solar System Ambassadors Program, which is
NASA's and JPL engagement effort across the nation to communicate the science and excitement of
NASA's space exploration missions and discoveries with the people. .
